Why Websites Use Cloudflare
Cloudflare is a reverse proxy that hides your real server IP, absorbs DDoS attacks and improves performance. Visitors connect to Cloudflare's network rather than your origin server. Find the origin IP now →
Legitimate Reasons to Find the Real IP
- Security researchers testing origin server defences directly
- Network administrators troubleshooting connectivity issues
- Email administrators tracing mail server sources for spam filtering
- Academics studying CDN infrastructure patterns
Three Discovery Techniques
DNS History
Before a site added Cloudflare, its DNS pointed directly to the origin. Historical DNS databases retain old records — if the IP hasn't changed, this reveals the real server.
Subdomain Scanning
Many sites protect their main domain but not subdomains like mail., direct. or ftp. which may resolve directly to the origin IP.
Email Headers
Registration confirmation emails originate from the real server. Their headers often contain the origin IP — bypassing Cloudflare entirely.
