Install Anonymiz on Your Site

Three ways to anonymize all outbound links on your website automatically. Copy one snippet and paste it before </body>.

Method 1 — JavaScript Snippet (Recommended)

Auto-anonymizes every outbound link on your page. Works on any site — WordPress, forums, HTML.

The script is served from https://anonymiz.com/js/anonymize.js — it automatically uses your site URL so redirects go through Anonymiz.

Method 2 — PHP Function

Use in PHP templates to wrap individual links server-side.

<?php
function anonymize_url($url) {
    return 'https://anonymiz.com/?' . rawurlencode($url);
}

// Usage:
echo '<a href="' . anonymize_url('https://example.com/page') . '">Visit</a>';
?>

Method 3 — Single Link Format

Manually wrap any individual URL. Just prepend the anonymizer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which method should I use on my website?
The JavaScript snippet is the easiest: paste it once before the closing body tag and every outbound link on the page is rewritten in the browser of each visitor, while links to your own domain are left alone. The PHP function rewrites links on the server, so it also works for visitors with JavaScript turned off. For just a few links, emails or documents, put https://anonymiz.com/? in front of any address.
Is there a ready-made plugin for my platform?
Yes. The WordPress plugin covers posts, pages, comments and widgets, with a settings page for domains you want to leave alone. The MyBB 1.8 plugin covers posts, private messages and signatures, and the XenForo 2.2+ add-on covers forum posts. All of them rewrite links only when a page is shown, so your saved content never changes and switching a plugin off restores the original links.
What does the browser extension do?
It works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox. Switch on Protect all links and every link you click to another website arrives without a referrer, so that site cannot see which page you came from. Links still go straight to their destination and nothing passes through our servers. The extension can also make an anonymized link in one click, check where a link redirects and open Anonymiz privacy checks from your toolbar.
Why would I anonymize outbound links?
When someone clicks a link, their browser usually tells the other site which page they came from. That address can reveal private forum threads, member areas or internal tools, show where your traffic comes from, and leak search terms or session tokens in the URL. Sending links through Anonymiz removes that information.
Do anonymized links still pass SEO value?
No. A rewritten link points at anonymiz.com rather than the destination, so search engines do not treat it as a normal link to the other site. That is usually what you want for links posted by users.
Is there a lighter way to hide the referrer?
Yes. If you only need to hide where the visitor came from, send the Referrer-Policy: no-referrer header or add rel="noreferrer" to your links. The browser then sends no referrer, without any redirect.
How do I check that it works?
Open the My Referrer checker at anonymiz.com/myreferer through one of your rewritten links. If everything is set up correctly, it shows no referrer.
Done!
