Privacy Explained
What is an HTTP Referrer Header?
Every time you click a link, your browser automatically sends an HTTP Referer header to the destination website. This header reveals the exact URL you came from — your blog post, your internal document, your private dashboard, or your affiliate campaign. The destination website logs this data, tracks your traffic sources, and can use it to identify you.
Anonymiz strips this header before the redirect happens. The destination site sees direct traffic — no source URL, no campaign data, no trace of where the visitor originated. Your links become truly anonymous.
Why does referrer privacy matter?
🔒 Protect private URLs
Internal documents, staging servers and admin panels should never appear in third-party access logs.
💰 Hide affiliate links
Stop competitors from seeing which affiliate networks you use or which products you promote.
📊 Clean analytics
Prevent your traffic sources from being visible in competitor analytics tools and third-party tracking platforms.
🛡️ User privacy
Protect your users — when they click links from your site, the destination cannot profile them based on where they came from.
