An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique number assigned to your device by your internet provider. It identifies your device on the internet and is used by websites to route data to you. Every device connected to the internet has at least one IP address.

IPv4 addresses look like 192.168.1.1 (four numbers separated by dots). IPv6 addresses use a longer hexadecimal format like 2001:db8::1. IPv6 was introduced because the world ran out of IPv4 addresses. Modern devices support both.

Yes. Every time you visit a website, your IP address is visible to that website's server. This is how the internet routes traffic back to you. Websites log this IP address along with timestamps and pages visited.

Use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to route your traffic through a server in another location. The website sees the VPN server's IP instead of yours. Tor browser provides stronger anonymity by routing through multiple servers.
