What is IP reputation?+
IP reputation is a score that reflects the trustworthiness of an IP address based on its history of abuse, spam sending, hacking attempts, malware distribution and other malicious activity. ISPs, email providers and security systems use reputation scores to decide whether to block or rate-limit traffic.
What does the abuse confidence score mean?+
The abuse confidence score (0–100) represents how likely an IP is to be malicious based on reports from the security community. A score of 0 means no known abuse. Scores above 25 are suspicious. Scores above 75 indicate a high probability of malicious activity.
Why is my IP showing as a VPN or proxy?+
If you use a VPN, your traffic exits from a VPN server IP. These IPs are often flagged as VPN or proxy in threat intelligence databases because many different users share them. This does not mean the IP is malicious — but it can affect services that block VPN traffic.
What should I do if my IP has a bad reputation?+
Check with your ISP — your IP may have been previously assigned to another user who used it maliciously. Submit abuse reports to AbuseIPDB and similar services to have false flags reviewed. For businesses, contact your hosting provider about IP reputation remediation.
