What is a DNSBL?
A DNS-based Blackhole List (DNSBL) is a database of IP addresses known to send spam, host malware, or conduct abuse. Email servers check these lists before accepting mail.

Email deliverability
If your server IP is blacklisted your emails may go directly to spam or be rejected. Check your email server IP before sending campaigns.

How to delist
Each blacklist has its own delisting process. Spamhaus and SpamCop have web forms. Fix the underlying issue (spam, malware) before requesting removal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my IP blacklisted?
Common reasons: your IP was used to send spam, your device had malware that sent spam, you share an IP with a spammer (common with dynamic ISP IPs), or your mail server was misconfigured and sent bounces to spam traps.
How do I get removed from a blacklist?
Fix the underlying problem first. Then visit the blacklist's website and submit a delisting request. Spamhaus has an automatic removal process for the PBL (Policy Block List). SBL and XBL require manual review.
Does this affect my web browsing?
Email blacklists primarily affect email delivery. They do not block web browsing. However, some security services use IP reputation to decide whether to show CAPTCHAs or block access.
