About this tool

Why use a strong password generator?

Never stored

Everything runs in your browser using crypto.getRandomValues(). Nothing sent to servers.

Cryptographically secure

Uses the same entropy source as browsers and professional password managers.

Zero knowledge

We cannot see, log, or recover any password you generate. No account needed.

4 generation modes

Password, Passphrase (memorable word combos), PIN, and Username generation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this password generator truly random?
Yes. It uses the browser web Crypto API getRandomValues() — the same source used by Bitwarden and 1Password. Not pseudo-random like Math.random().
Do you store or log passwords?
No. Everything runs client-side in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers. You can disconnect from the internet and it still works.
What is a passphrase and why use it?
A passphrase combines random words such as Correct-Horse-Battery-Staple. Easier to remember than random characters, yet often more secure due to length. A 4-word passphrase has over 50 bits of entropy.
How long should my password be?
At least 16 characters for important accounts. For email and banking, 20 or more. Use the Recommended preset — it creates passwords that would take billions of years to crack.
Should I use the same password on multiple sites?
Never. If one site is breached attackers will try your password everywhere. Use a unique password for every account, stored in a manager like Bitwarden (free) or 1Password.
What does entropy mean?
Entropy measures how unpredictable your password is. Higher entropy means harder to crack. A 16-character password with all character types has approximately 105 bits of entropy.
What are ambiguous characters?
Characters like 0, O, l, 1, I and pipe look similar in some fonts. Exclude them if you type passwords manually. Keep them enabled for passwords stored in a manager.
Pro tip: Store passwords in a free manager like Bitwarden — open-source, zero-knowledge, free forever. Never reuse passwords across sites.
